Teresa’s new movie, Take Me Home Tonight, hits theaters this Friday, and Seventeen could not be more excited. In it, she plays the pretty, popular girl Topher Grace spent all of high school crushing on (without doing anything about it, obviously). The whole movie takes place over one night, at two crazy parties, the summer after college, and there might just be some love between the two by the end. To help get you guys excited for Friday, Teresa sat down with us to dish on everything from her secret shopping sites to her favorite ’80s song.

Seventeen: Your movie, Take Me Home Tonight, is set in the ’80s, during one crazy night out. Do you have a favorite ’80s song?

Teresa: Yeah, I really love “Bette Davis Eyes,” which is great because it was my slow-motion entrance into the party scene. It was just coincidence, but it’s always been my favorite ’80s song.

Seventeen: People get so into the ’80s—what was the most fun thing about making this movie, for you?

Teresa: The ’80s just seemed like such a different world from where we are at now. This was such a fun film because I got to experience dressing up in crazy clothes and having sky-high hair and funky makeup. It was amazing to play dress up for a couple months!

Seventeen: Now when you’re not dressed in shimmery ’80s dresses, with big hair, how would you describe your personal style?

Teresa: Comfort meets edgy. I’m a little bit of a rocker, and I do like getting dressed up and girly sometimes, but for the most part, my everyday style is pretty laid-back and effortless, with a bit of an edge. Like right now, I’m wearing ripped jeans and a plain white t-shirt with black ballet flats.

Seventeen: Do you have any go-to accessories that you use to add that bit of edge?

Teresa: Yeah, every day, I wear a piece from the JewelMint collection. It’s Kate Bosworth’s and Cher Coulter’s line. Basically, you go to the website and sign up, and every month, they send you a piece of jewelry. It only costs you $30 each month, for one piece of jewelry, which is customized to your taste. You fill out a survey, and then they send you a piece that they think goes with your style. It’s amazing because the pieces look vintage, and they’re so cool and edgy.

Seventeen: Now, in your other movie, I Am Number 4, you play a tougher, edgier character—what was that like?

Teresa: I had an amazing time shooting that movie. It was exhausting because I had to transform myself into this warrior. It was just a lot of physical training, and I had to shoot a gun and zip around on these wires that were six feet high in the air. It was quite grueling, but very rewarding at the same time. I had hair extensions in and I had a tan and dark, smokey eyes, so I was completely transformed.
